After multiple transfer bids, United have finally agreed a deal to sign Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the verbal agreement on his X account.

The journalist revealed that United will pay £25 million for Dorgu with a further £4m in performance add-ons which are not guaranteed.

He becomes the first major signing under Ruben Amorim’s tutelage at United.

Romano wrote on X: “Patrick Dorgu to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place with Lecce, documents to be checked in next 24h.

“Fee will be €30m plus €5m in add-ons not guaranteed. Long term contract agreed days ago with the player… …and first signing for Rúben Amorim.”

The 20-year-old started his career as a left-back for Lecce but can operate in multiple positions.

The Denmark international has also played as a left wing-back, right wing-back and right winger.

Dorgu has largely featured as a forward for Lecce this campaign, but Amorim is expected to deploy him from the left wing-back position for the Red Devils.

Diogo Dalot has regularly played there over recent months. The Portuguese has struggled from the makeshift role and has barely provided an attacking outlet.

Dorgu should be an upgrade in the department. He likes to make overlapping runs when required.

The Dane is also good in the defensive scheme of things. He has won 6.9 duels per Serie A game this campaign alongside 2.1 tackles. 4.7 recoveries and 1.7 clearances.

His arrival at Old Trafford is expected to pave the way for the loan exit of Tyrell Malacia.
