Hellas Verona midfielder Ondrej Duda will not be available against Inter Milan in Serie A on Saturday due to injury.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Suat Serdar and Reda Belahyane will start the match in midfield.
This weekend, Hellas Verona host Inter in Serie A.
Saturday evening will see both the Gialloblu and the Nerazzurri return to action from the international break.
For Inter, the aim will be three points so they can keep up in the title race. For Verona, on the other hand, a result would be a huge boost in their bid for top flight survival.
However, the Gialloblu will have to do without a player who has played a massive role in their avoiding relegation in each of the past couple seasons.
Slovakian international midfield Duda joined Verona during the January transfer window of the 2022-23 season.
Duda joined the Gialloblu while they were struggling to keep their heads above water in the Serie A table.
But the former Koln, Hertha Berlin, and Norwich City midfielder fit right into the team under coach Marco Zaffaroni.
This was a key part of the Venetian side staying up during that season.
Then last time around, Duda had just as big a role to play under coach Marco Baroni.
There were many big names both in and out of Verona last January. But one player who was a regular in the starting eleven all season long was Duda.
This was important for the Gialloblu once again avoiding the drop to Serie B.
Duda has played his role as a stabilizing influence under Paolo Zanetti this time around as well.
In fact, the Gazzetta notes, Verona have lost their two matches in which the 29-year-old has been absent. He missed a 2-1 loss to Lazio, and a 3-2 defeat against Torino.
And once again, Duda will be out, reports the Gazzetta. He has picked up a thigh problem while on international duty with Slovakia.
Therefore, the newspaper anticipates, the likes of Suat Serdar and Reda Belahyane will start for the Gialloblu this Saturday.
