The winger is set to return to Elland Road following a loan spell in the Premier League with Everton.

Leeds United are hoping to put play-off disappointment behind them, and mount another Premier League promotion challenge next season.

The Whites are heading into a summer of relative uncertainty, however, as multiple key players will have to be sold in order to comply with football's financial laws.

But that doesn't mean that expectations of achieving promotion out of the Championship next season have been tempered, as the 49ers ownership group and indeed their loyal fanbase will demand nothing but Premier League football in 2025.

So, whilst top players will be heading for the exit door at Elland Road this summer, the club are expected to receive the services of some of their former stars, as they return to West Yorkshire following their respective loan spells.

One such player, is winger Jack Harrison, so Football League World takes a look at how his return may be viewed by Whites fans, and find out whether there could yet be a future at the club for him.

Leeds United fan pundit: 'we don't want him'

Speaking with Football League World, our Leeds United fan pundit Kris Smith spoke to about Harrison's situation at Elland Road.

Kris said: "For me, I think Harrison can be categorised as one of those from that group of loan players that we won't be seeing back at Elland Road.

"There's a few reasons for it. Firstly, he burned his bridges like the rest of them, so for us fans, that won't go down well.

"Secondly, his frantic dash to utilise his loan clause back in August when he was linked to Everton and Aston Villa, it underlined that he really would just rather be anywhere than with us in the Championship.

"So, he doesn't want to be at Leeds, it's clearly mutual from either side. We don't really want him back, he doesn't want to be here.

"He's also still a player for us that could fetch quite a significant fee in the coming years, given that he's tied down until 2028 and he's an English winger with fairly consistent output in the Premier League.

"He would generate a profit for us which in PSR (profit and sustainability) terms, is absolutely vital. Not only that though, having had Crysencio Summerville on the left wing all season, we've been better off without Harrison.

"Summerville is a better player for us, and he is a better player. It has been nice having a winger play for us that doesn't take 10 touches to make a decision."

Harrison could shine for Leeds next season

Whilst it's probably fair to assume that Leeds United is not where Harrison envisioned, nor intended to be playing his football in 2024/25, it may be a fact that he will be required to come to terms with.

As Kris made reference to, the 27-year-old is contracted at Elland Road until the summer of 2028, and therefore should the club decide they can afford to keep hold of him, then there isn't any pressure to sell the former Everton loanee.

The Englishman would undoubtedly return to the Championship and instantly become one of the best wingers in the division, and could provide Daniel Farke with a natural Crysencio Summerville replacement.

Harrison may well feel like he's proven that he deserves to be playing Premier League football, and whilst that may be true, it remains to be seen whether any Premier League club would be willing to spend a sizeable fee on him.

A recent report from journalist Dan Bardell via Goodison News suggests that Leeds would be prepared to sanction a second loan spell back to Everton next season, should the Toffees pay his wages in full.

But should the admittedly unlikely situation arise where Harrison lets it be known that he'd be willing to stay, it could mean an interesting decision would need to be made by Leeds, as they weigh up the pros and cons.
