Hayles hoping to continue scoring start | OneFootball

Having starred in the FA Women's Championship during her time with Bristol City Women, Hayles has impressed in front of the United fans in the Magpies' opening two games.

Newcastle's number seven has now scored two of United's three goals this term, and admitted that it felt extra special to find the back of the net on her Kingston Park debut against Sheffield United Women on Sunday.

"I had been waiting so long to play here," Hayles admitted. "People had been telling me how amazing it is, so when I walked out onto the pitch and saw all the fans, it was the best feeling.

"I've never known fans like this before - it was just magic walking out to them and to score a goal here at Kingston Park. There's just no better feeling."

A crowd of 3,221 witnessed a piece of history at the weekend as Becky Langley's side claimed their first-ever win in the Women's Championship while also maintaining their unbeaten start to the season.

And with such an impressive attendance, Hayles and her team-mates were keen to reward them.

"It's still early days for me, but hopefully there are more goals, assists and wins to come," she told newcastleunited.com.

"The three points were definitely what we wanted. It's always nice to pick up a win, but to do so at home makes it extra special."

While Hayles has certainly endeared herself to the Newcastle faithful with her selfless performances added to her obvious goal threat, she insists she's far from at her peak.

After failing to pick up as many minutes as she would've liked last season in the Women's Super League, United's number seven believes she is only just getting started in the North East.

"I always want to be as clinical as I can be for the team," she added.

"I'm still getting minutes under my belt after last season so I'm happy to have scored another goal and it just continues to breed confidence.

"Of course, I'm still getting used to the style of play and being here at Newcastle. It might take me a few more games to feel 100 per cent but it's so far, so good."
