FC Barcelona are well and truly committed to fighting for every possible title in 2025. For the Catalan giants, their dream of a possible treble is now within touching distance for them. Across the three remaining competitions, Barcelona have a solid chance at each of them.
Currently sitting four points clear at the top of the La Liga table, in the final of the Copa del Rey, and among the last four remaining teams in the UEFA Champions League, Hansi Flick’s side has progressed well in each competition. However, they are now at the decisive stage of their campaign.
Unfortunately, the recent injury to Robert Lewandowski is an untimely blow for the Spanish side. Now expected to be sidelined for a week few weeks following the injury he picked up against Celta Vigo, Barcelona will have to work out another strategy for their attack.
Fortunately, La Blaugrana have a solid enough record this season even without the Polish striker. One of the reasons behind that record is Ferran Torres, who has been in great form this season and has made the most of every opportunity that has come his way, especially in the Copa del Rey.
Moreover, as highlighted by SPORT, Hansi Flick even had a direct one-on-one conversation with the 25-year-old Spanish forward in the team’s most recent training session. That gesture by itself should highlight just how important the next few games are for both the player and Barcelona.
By taking a moment to speak with him privately, the German coach seems to have made it clear that he trusts the Spaniard to step up in Lewandowski’s absence. He has been clinical and efficient this season so far, and those qualities will be needed by Barcelona in the games up ahead.
The report also suggests that Torres’s great performances in the Copa del Rey may have guaranteed him a starting role regardless of whether or not Lewandowski was injured. Now, however, it almost looks guaranteed that Torres will be the man to represent Barcelona against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final as the team’s centre-forward.
