Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has revealed that he instructed young winger Lamine Yamal to play something of a new role in his XI in the club’s latest outing.
Barca, of course, marked their return to action on Wednesday night.
Amid ongoing efforts to keep alive the club’s perfect start to the La Liga campaign, the Blaugrana welcomed Getafe to Catalunya’s capital.
And, when all was said and done, emerge on the right side of the result is precisely what Flick and co. managed once more.
A solitary goal on the part of Robert Lewandowski, netted inside the 20-minute mark from close range, proved enough to put a game Getafe outfit to the sword.
The aforementioned Lamine, for his part, played all 90 minutes of the clash, joining match-winner Lewandowski and Raphinha in a star-studded frontline.
Speaking post-match, though, manager Flick went on to reveal that his side’s wing wizard was actually tasked with something of a different role from that of his normal right wing duty on Wednesday:
“Lamine likes to play on the wing but we knew that Getafe’s match plan was to get very close to him and we told him which spaces to occupy. Today he played more inside.”
