Hamza Igamane (21) could yet become one of Ligue 1’s late-window signings. The Moroccan international enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Rangers last season, scoring 16 goals and providing 3 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions in Scotland.

According to Foot Mercato, the striker has made clear his desire to move to Ligue 1 before the close of the window. Rangers value him at around €15m, a fee that has so far put off interested French clubs. LOSC Lille held a verbal agreement earlier this summer but have since cooled their pursuit.

Stade Rennais are among the clubs to have monitored Igamane as they continue their search for a replacement for Arnaud Kalimuendo, who joined Nottingham Forest earlier in the window. The Bretons are also tracking Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder and SCO Angers forward Estéban Lepaul.Yet a wider problem has been facing French clubs, especially in the market for strikers with prices soaring. Only 19 goals were scored during the opening Ligue 1 weekend – with many clubs yet to finalise their number 9’s for the next season. GFFN | George Boxall
