Hamburg have evidently won the race to secure the services of rising German midfield talent Nicolai Remberg. Many Bundesliga outfits were interested in picking the 24-year-old up from relegated club Holstein Kiel. In the end, it’s the newly promoted side that has emerged victorious. This is reported by both Sky Germany and Kicker.
Remberg joined Kiel from Preußen Münster in the summer of 2023 after helping his fourth division club achieve promotion in the 2022/23 campaign. The central midfielder then helped Kiel earn promotion to the German top flight the very next year.
Remberg made 32 Bundesliga (26 starts) appearances for Marcel Rapp’s Störche this past season, attracting plenty of interest with strong performances as an attacking, anchoring, and defensive-minded midfielder. His aggressive tackling ability earned him the nickname “Rambo”.
Kiel rewarded Remberg with a contract extension in February of this year. Given the player’s prospects, a €2.5m exit clause was built into the new deal. Union Berlin, Mainz, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen were also linked with him.
