Kicker reports that both Hamburg and Augsburg are also attempting to sign Mainz 05 transfer target William Bøving. Hamburg currently scramble to augment their completely limp attack after failing to score a goal (and only creating three real scoring chances) through the first two Bundesliga matchdays. Augsburg find themselves in need of support attackers who can also play deep.
Kicker notes that both Mainz and Hamburg are attempting to acquire Bøving from Sturm Graz for less than the €7m exit clause embedded in the 22-year-old’s current contract. Mainz’s latest offer is reported to total around €4m with bonuses included. Bøving has been released from his club duties in order to negotiate his transfer away from the Austrian champions before the transfer window closes.
Augsburg and Hamburg were also both reported to be interested in former Stuttgart attacker Fabian Rieder, but Kicker claims that Hamburg (at least) are out of the running for the Stade Rennes professional for now. Augsburg probably stand little chance of acquiring the 19-times-capped Swiss international too as Rennes aren’t interested in loaning Rieder out again.
