Man City boss Pep Guardiola insists that he wants Savinho to stay at the club for many years, amid interest from Tottenham in the winger.
Spurs are keen on signing the 21-year-old, who played 48 times in all competitions, including the Club World Cup, last season.
But discussing the youngster’s future, Guardiola says he is not aware that he wants to leave this summer.
“I’m only concerned today that Savinho will be with us for the rest of the season,” he said. “Hopefully for many, many years because he’s 21-years-old and with the potential that he has.
“He played a lot of minutes. He has to improve his final decisions but he’s an extraordinary player, otherwise he would not play more than 3,000 minutes.
“In the end, as always, the desire of the player propels above everything. But after that, there has to be an agreement with the club. If there’s not an agreement, the player will be here.”
Savinho’s fellow Brazilian Ederson has also been linked with a move away this summer, and while Guardiola says he is not thinking about them leaving, he is unsure whether the pair will stay.
“If they want to leave, they will come to me,” he said.
“I’m working with them because they are here. If they want to leave, they will knock on my door.
“What’s going to happen? Nobody knows. It’s three weeks.”
Both are set to miss this weekend’s opening Premier League clash with Wolves due to injury, with Savinho set to be out for “a few weeks”, Guardiola revealed.
Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol will also miss the game while they recover from their respective injury problems, but both Phil Foden and Rodri are set to be part of the squad.
Guardiola insists he must manage Rodri’s minutes carefully, however, as he works his way back to full fitness.
