Glen Johnson names the Chelsea star he claims still has “a lot more to give” | OneFootball

Glen Johnson feels Moises Caicedo is starting to live up to his reputation, but believes the midfielder still has a lot more to give.

Caicedo arrived at Chelsea for a British record transfer of £115m from Brighton in the summer of 2023, but initially struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.

The 23-year-old came under heavy criticism for his performances, but improved a lot over the second half of last season and finished the campaign strongly.

Johnson believes Caicedo still has a lot more to give

Chelsea have made a good start to the season under Enzo Maresca and currently sit third in the Premier League following Sunday’s draw against Arsenal.

Caicedo looks like a player reborn under the Italian and has arguably been Chelsea’s best performer this season, as well as being one of, if not the best midfielder in the league, although Maresca stopped short of saying that himself.

The Ecuador international has been brilliant defensively and has surprisingly shown his quality in the attacking third with a brilliant goal against Manchester United, whilst he’s also assisted Nicolas Jackson twice this season.

Caicedo is now looking like the player he was at Brighton, but former Chelsea star Johnson believes he still has so much more to give.

“He’s beginning to live up to the big reputation he had before he joined the club and his performances have been much, much better,” he told Betfred as cited on X.com.

“I still believe that he has a lot more to give, but you can see now why the club wanted him in the first place and what all the fuss was about.”

If Caicedo does have a lot more to give then that’s great news for the Blues, but very worrying for Chelsea’s opposition.

He’s still only 23 and you would imagine there’s still a lot of improvement to make as he heads towards the prime years of his career, but Chelsea look like they have a top quality player on their books for many years to come.
