Girona losing hope of keeping Manchester City star for next season | OneFootball

Girona are gearing up for their first ever season in the Champions League, although as things stand, there is significant uncertainty surrounding their first team squad options.

One area that is to be addressed is the loan stars from last season. Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre have returned to Barcelona, although there is a decent chance that they return to Montilivi. There is less hope for Yan Couto and Savio, who will be heading back to Manchester City after the Copa America.

According to The Athletic (via Sport), Girona do not expect Savio to return, given that there’s more of a likelihood of him being in Pep Guardiola’s squad for next season. However, Couto’s situation is different, as there’s no clear pathway at the Premier League champions. Another loan is possible, while a permanent departure cannot be ruled out.

Not keeping Savio would be a big blow for Girona, given the impact he made last season. Couto stood out less, although he was still very good, and if they can get him back, it’d be good business.
