Manchester City have received contact from their sister club Girona over the possibility of taking players from the Etihad Stadium on loan next season, it is being reported.
Etihad Stadium officials are entering into a busy summer of transfer activity when it concerns potential arrivals into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad, departures from the roster, and the sanctioning of temporary spells away from the club for developmental purposes.
Among the names to be highest-ranked in terms of priority signings is AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders, with an agreement between the two clubs understood to be close, while there is also interest in Lyon’s Rayan Cherki and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
The arrivals of that trio, or just one or two names, could be seen as not only the process in replacing Kevin De Bruyne, but also perhaps opening the door to further exits beyond the Belgian, with Ilkay Gundogan, Jack Grealish, and Bernardo Silva all uncertanities.
On the loan front and there is expected to be plenty of movement here too, particularly off the back of yet another exemplary season for Manchester City’s Academy system, as a Premier League 2 triumph spearheaded the successes.
Now, according to the information of Catalunya Radio – as translated and relayed by Sport Witness – Girona’s sporting director Quique Cárcel has contacted Manchester City to ask for a list of players available on loan next season.
It is explained that while the two sides are still waiting for UEFA approval to begin negotiations over player transfers, Girona want to speed up the process by identifying players that suit their vision early on.
And one name that reportedly ‘stands out’ for the La Liga side is Manchester City’s Argentine attacking midfielder Claudio Echeverri, who is said to be very popular at Girona and has already made his FA Cup and Premier League debut for the Etihad outfit.
Among the other youthful names that have been linked with moves away from the Etihad Stadium in recent days is star Academy striker Divin Mubama, who is believed to be on the radar at Ipswich Town and LOSC Lille.
Manchester City are understood to be valuing the 20-year-old at £10 million in the event of a permanent exit, but some reports have indicated that the preference would be for a loan spell for the forthcoming season.
Any move away for Mubama would come off the back of arguably a breakout season with Manchester City, having registered appearances in the FA Cup and Premier League, scoring his first senior goal for the club in the third round of the former, too.
In the Premier League 2 route to success, Mubama also recorded a remarkable 10 goals and four assists in just nine appearances for Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad under the coaching guidance of Ben Wilkinson.
