Gio Reyna suffers injury setback delaying return to action | OneFootball

Borussia Dortmund attacker Gio Reyna has suffered a further setback in his recovery from injury.

The 21-year-old USMNT star picked up a groin problem whilst on international duty last month and was expected to be making a return to action soon.

Yet Reyna – who has been plagued with injuries in recent times – is now not expected back until into November, missing new boss Mauricio Pochettino’s first camps with the US this month and next.

“We expect Julien and Karim to be available again after the international break in November,” confirmed boss Dortmund Nuri Sahin in a press conference.  “Gio, unfortunately, has had a setback, and it looks similar for him.”

Reyna has only registered one domestic appearance this season, coming off the bench for just nine minutes against Eintracht Frankfurt.
