Across the span of our lives, each of us meet people that are able to give off a sense of calm. People that via a gesture, a word or a simple expression are able to calm others and inspire hope. For Nerazzurri fans, Gigi Simoni was one of these people and much more: an example of kindness, correctness and Interismo, a quality that also stood out in the genuine football of the coach born in Crevalcore on 22 January 1939.
Simoni passed away on 22 May 2020, he came to Inter in 1997: he was a great coach, capable of forming one of the most important groups in Nerazzurri history, the side that lifted the 1997/98 UEFA Cup thanks to goals in the final from Zamorano, Zanetti and Ronaldo. A side guided by the passion and humility of its coach, seen as a father and a teacher to his lads.
Today, Simoni would have been turing 86, his memory is more alive than ever since his football, his values and his kind eye will always remain.
