Manchester United forward Geyse looks set for a move to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) following controversial claims that the club recently pushed to send the player on loan whilst she was attending her brother's funeral.

Geyse was out of action in the opening stages of 2025 after the deeply saddening news of her brother's passing. The Telegraph have since reported the accusation that United pushed to send the Brazil international out on loan whilst she was on that period of compassionate leave.

"It was clear that the club and the coach don't count on her - the pressure of being in a place where you feel you are not wanted is tremendous," the player's agent told the newspaper.

"As you know, her brother passed away, she is going through a very difficult time, it is a very difficult time psychologically and at Man United she is not having the best time."

Emerging reports from the Guardian have since linked Geyse to a potential loan move to NWSL club NJ/NY Gotham. The NWSL transfer window remains open until 24 March, meaning that a loan agreement can be settled between all parties up until that date.

Fans raised concerns regarding Geyse as the forward took to social media following United's 2-0 victory over Leicester City in the Women's Super League (WSL).

"Staying in a place where we don't feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling," Geyse posted on Instagram. "Every day seems heavier, and the simple fact of being there becomes a burden."

"The environment, which should be welcoming, becomes a field of discomfort, where inner peace is difficult to find. Sometimes, the desire for change arises as an urgent need, but the fear of the unknown or insecurity about the future can paralyse us.

"However, it is essential to remember that we deserve to be in places and situations that bring us happiness and fulfilment. That's the only way we can grow."

A statement from a Manchester United spokesperson in response said: "We continue to support Geyse in her wellbeing and look for options which suit all parties."
