Germany have received a major boost heading into their UEFA Nations League game against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday with the return of Florian Wirtz.
The 21-year-old has been suffering from an infection but returned to training on Thursday.
It’s a boost for Julian Nagelsmann who has already had to deal with the withdrawals of Deniz Undav and Angelo Stiller, both of Stuttgart, in the current international break. Leroy Sané has been called up in place of Undav, whose fitness was already in doubt after being replaced in their loss against Atalanta and then missing VfB’s 3-2 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt completely.
Meanwhile the DFB confirmed on Wednesday that Stiller would leave the team amid muscular problems. No player has been called up in place of the 23-year-old, and instead Nagelsmann will just have a pool of 22 players for their games against Bosnia and Hungary on Saturday and Tuesday.
