Genoa coach Patrick Vieira believes that on-loan Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni has “a lot of quality” but that he needs more than just quality.
The Frenchman spoke to SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after his team’s Coppa Italia win over Vicenza yesterday.
Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni is currently on loan with Genoa.
The Argentine appeared for the Ligurian club in a first round Coppa Italia match yesterday. They faced Vicenza.
And it was an impactful debut for the 20-year-old. Carboni got on the scoresheet in the first half, scoring the opener in what proved to be a 3-0 win for Genoa.
This was exactly what Inter will have oped to see. They have loaned Carboni out in the hope that he can receive regular playing time and grow after the serious injury that derailed his time at Marseille.

Genoa coach Patrick Vieira commented after the match that “we have new players with quality.”
“They’re making themselves available to the team,” the Frenchman continued.
Vieri noted that “last season Carboni didn’t play very much.”
“But he has a lot of quality. However, we also have the experience to know that it takes more than quality to succeed and go forward in a career.”
The Genoa coach declared that “we’re a club where young players can come, because we have confidence in them.”
“We work with them,” he added. “And they get chances to play, because the most important thing for young players is to play.”
