AC Milan played their final game of the calendar year last night, drawing 1-1 with Roma in a match that would eventually cost Paulo Fonseca his job.
It looked like things were going the right way for Milan when Tijjani Reijnders scored the opener from Youssouf Fofana’s assist, though Roma got themselves back on terms not long after through Paulo Dybala’s volley and level is how it would stay.
This morning, it was confirmed that Fonseca has been sacked as the head coach after just 24 games in charge, with 12 wins, six defeats and six draws his final record.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta (seen below) has their ratings from the match, starting with the overall team performance which earned a 5.5 out of 10, and Fonseca’s management of his final game which got a 5.
The best player on the pitch for Milan was Tijjani Reijnders, who got the goal and a score of 7. Alvaro Morata was the one who struggled the most, getting a grade of 5.
Emerson Royal, Theo Hernandez and Filippo Terracciano each got the same score as a Spanish striker as the Rossoneri really struggled in the full-back areas.
Malick Thiaw got half a point more, as did Ismael Bennacer and Tammy Abraham off the bench. The midfielder was making his return after a long absence, and the Englishman faced his parent club.
Mike Maignan, Matteo Gabbia and Samuel Chukwueze were given a passing grade (6). Youssouf Fofana and Alex Jimenez complete the list by getting some praise and a 6.5 score.
