AC Milan have paused talks over the renewal of Theo Hernandez as they are concerned about his recent form, according to a report.
Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport has a report which analyses the potential impact of Sunday’s events on the futures of Davide Calabria and Theo, with the former having a bust-up with Sergio Conceicao and the latter taken off at half-time due to a poor performance.
The paper writes that Conceicao’s future beyond this season is far from certain, given that a lot will depend on getting into the Champions League places, but for now the management and the leadership are backing his hardline approach.
Theo will start tomorrow against Dinamo Zagreb. However, he was guilty on Sunday – as has happened too often lately – during Parma’s first goal. It was not the only blunder: he created danger at the back but not up front, as his role as a full-back would require him to do.
If Rafael Leao is the future of the Rossoneri, the same cannot be said for Theo. His contract expires in the summer of 2026 and to sign the renewal he is asking for a pay rise which is not in line with current performances.
That is the reason why the club have cooled the negotiations with his agents, for now. To heat it up again, Theo knows that he must return to the levels that he is capable of.
