GdS: Fonseca to follow with ‘strong actions’ – those involved and the supporters | OneFootball

In the past week, Paulo Fonseca has entered a new chapter of his AC Milan journey. A period where he has become more vocal and risque with his words, and on Sunday, we will see actions.

Wednesday’s outburst at his team was done in the public eye for the first time and whilst he has been annoyed with things previously, he has never gone so far as to threaten the team in front of the public. For this reason, he has turned a page, and now, there can be no excuses.

His message is clear, and the players cannot hide from his words anymore.

The fallout

As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, the Portuguese does not mince his words, and action will be taken going forward, actions that are endorsed by the club, even if this has not been said publically, but this does not matter.

On Wednesday evening, he dropped a ‘bombshell’, but this was not his first warning to players and despite his words, there was still an element of protection to them. After all, he has always tried to be respectful about situations and despite his anger, he did not direct it to any player, but rather the team, even if the cases are known.

Those involved moving forward

From here, we must look to the future and we start with Sunday. The biggest news is that Theo Hernandez will not start, as Fonseca looks to replicate the success of the Rafael Leao situation, this time with the Frenchman.

Because of this, there is potentially a chance to be handed to one of the youngsters – both Davide Bartesaghi and Alex Jimenez are vying for a spot, especially after partaking in first-team training on Friday. However, Filippo Terracciano currently is preferred.

Fonseca’s promise of using the youth teams could bear fruits too. Camarda is almost guaranteed to be involved in some capacity due to the injury issues, but minutes could also be given to Silvano Vos, Mattia Liberali, Demirel Hodzic and Chaka Traore.

The club

Yesterday, Zlatan Ibrahimovic reiterated the club’s faith and backing in Fonseca, and this was his main port of call at Milanello, rather than discussing things with the team. Actions will only be taken by the coach though, in an attempt not to undermine him.

Results are not good enough, but this is Fonseca’s situation to change, on his own account, rather than with the moves of the management.
