GdS: Fonseca could replicate Leao treatment with Theo as struggles continue | OneFootball

AC Milan’s left flank was their strength for a long time, but this season both Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez have been up and down.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) recall, until a few days ago Leoa was at the centre of criticism and controversy, now it’s the turn of Theo after a poor performance against Cagliari amid a difficult recent period.

Against the Sardinians he didn’t put up any resistance to Zortea and Zappa, showing little in the way of hustle and fight as he did a few nights previous during the 3-1 win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Instead, the Frenchman showed the same attitude that Leao had been criticised for on other occasions: too distracted, too soft in his tackles and not very attentive. With the Portuguese, Fonseca decided to try and rekindle his flame by benching him for three league games in a row.

Will he give Theo Hernandez the same treatment? It’s hard to say now, but the Milan coach is thinking about what to do. Filippo Terracciano or Alex Jimenez can play on the left while Davide Calabria could be moved to the other flank also.

We’ll see what Fonseca decides to do, but with Juventus being the next game it would be a very bold call to leave out one of the leaders of the team.
