Player movement is definitely common in Major League Soccer. Talent comes and goes, often overseas, too.
Ahead of next Sunday's matchup between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Minnesota United FC, multiple players have worn both uniforms. In light of the MLS Western Conference Semifinals next weekend, here are a few of those players.
Our first player only played three games for the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2006. However, this was his debut season in the league.
Burch was selected with the 24th pick in the second round of the 2006 MLS SuperDraft. He was traded to the Columbus Crew shortly after.
The native of Cincinnati, Ohio scored three times with his third team, DC United, and once more as a member of the Colorado Rapids.
While Burch never tasted MLS gold, he came close in 2016 as a member of the Rapids. They lost in the MLS Western Conference Finals to his former team, the Seattle Sounders.
From 2017-2018, Burch was a member of the Minnesota United FC squad. He appeared in 21 games.
This American born forward did not have to travel far from home to play for his first MLS team. Dunbar is originally from Carson, California where the LA Galaxy play their home games.
He played 18 games between 2020-2022 and another 48 for the LA Galaxy II team. The only games he scored for LA was with the II team. He did so 15 times.
Last year, Dunbar played for the Minnesota United FC team. Appearing in three games, he also played in nine games for Minnesota United 2 the same year.
Dunbar is now playing for the Orange County SC. In 33 games this season, he found the back of the net twice.
At 22-years-old, he is still young and hunger for the sport. This may not be the last we will see Dunbar in MLS.
Hailing from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, this soccer player may look familiar to both Galaxy Head Coach Greg Vanney and defender Eriq Zavaleta. Both were apart of Edwards's debut season in 2017 with Toronto FC.
In his first season, Edwards was a member of the championship team that defeated the Seattle Sounders. In his 21 games that year, he did score once.
Months later, Edwards was nearly playing for the new LAFC team. However, he was traded to the Montreal Impact. One of his two goals that season came in the second match of the year.
Edwards then made his way to the Chicago Fire that same season and would play the entire 2019 with the team. In 2020, that is when he wore the uniform of Minnesota United FC.
He played 12 games for them before finally coming to play for LAFC in 2021. Prior to this season, Edwards was a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy for two years.
In 60 appearances, he scored three times. Now, Edwards is a member of the CF Montreal squad.
The 28-year-old from Alexandria, Virginia might look familiar to Los Angeles. He played in 43 times for the UCLA Bruins and scored twice. Gasper then went to play for the Maryland Terrapins to close out his collegiate playing career.
In 2019, this defender debuted in the league with Minnesota United FC. Gasper scored twice in his 63 appearances with his first MLS team.
For the same two years as Edwards, Gasper played for the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2022 and 2023. He played 17 games for the five-time MLS Champions before becoming a member of the Houston Dynamo later in the season last year.
Gasper played four games this season as a member of the Chicago Fire.
From Panama City, Panama, the 24-year-old became a member of the LA Galaxy II team in 2019. Harvey scored two times for the team.
He was bumped up to the LA Galaxy main roster in 2021. During his first two seasons in MLS, Harvey only appeared in four games for the Galaxy.
The three-year veteran took a year off from the league in 2023 to play for Phoenix Rising FC of the USL. In 30 appearances, Havery scored five goals.
Currently playing for Minnesota United FC, Harvey also spent time with Minnesota United 2. For the main roster, he has played in 18 games.
Harvey also has played for the Panama National Team. He has seven international appearances. His only goal with this team came in 2023.
