Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk insists the Turkish champions haven’t withdrawn from the race for Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu.
Speaking to BeIN Sports via FCInterNews, Buruk confirmed the club’s overwhelming desire to sign the 31-year-old.
Despite falling behind Fenerbahce in the pecking order, the reigning Super Lig holders remain keen on Calhanoglu.
Indeed, Buruk’s men are reluctant to concede defeat just yet.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce have intensified talks with the player’s agent as they look to wrap the deal up in the coming hours.
However, Fenerbahce’s aggressive approach has not deterred Galatasaray from making a late bid.
Instead, the Rams Park outfit may try to hijack Calhanoglu’s transfer to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium at the 11th hour.
As for Inter, their hands seem tied as the Turkish midfielder undoubtedly wants to leave.

Time is ticking away, but Galatasaray haven’t lost hope of signing Hakan Calhanoglu.
Indeed, they have been preoccupied with other transfer dealings.
After landing Leroy Sane, they went to great lengths to re-sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli.
Now that the Nigerian is on the verge of returning to Istanbul, Galatasaray can turn back to Calhanoglu.
“This is the wish of our president, and it’s our intention as well. In reality, we’re trying to move forward position by position,” Buruk stated.
“We quickly finalized Leroy Sané. Victor Osimhen was very important to confirm, and his transfer is almost complete.
“Once that is finalized, the goalkeeper’s transfer will be particularly important for us.
“We need to make decisions on other positions as we go along. The most important thing, of course, is to have a budget.
“We allocated a very significant budget for Osimhen, and we have to make decisions based on the remaining budget.
“Here, you can ask for a lot – you can ask for players in every position – but the budget is very important. We have to use it wisely.”
