Coming up against this season's 2.Bundesliga new boys Dynamo Dresden, it took all of 28 seconds for Fürth to open the scoring. Some neat play down the left flank allowed Reno Münz to cross for Noel Futkeu head home with ease. Nerves were visibly jittery for the visitors as their defence went to sleep while goalkeeper Schreiber hesitated.

In what was a frantic first-half, both teams scored inside a two-minute spell. Fürth repeated the dose as they created more joy on the left with Hrgota picking out Felix Klaus. However, Dresden cut the deficit to 2-1 on 11 minutes - Lemmer put the ball on a plate for Christoph Daferner to squeeze past Boevink's fingertips with the aid of the post.

Fürth restored their two-goal cushion just 6 minutes after the break with Futkeu at the double. This time, the 22-year-old took it upon himself to evade Bünning and place it in the lower-right corner. Similar to the first-half, the concession of the goal seemed to wake Dresden up as Oehmichen found Daferner who placed his shot just wide.

With around 15 minutes remaining, the club from eastern Germany pulled another back. Fürth tried to clear their lines but the ball fell to Claudio Kammerknecht whose effort deflected off Bjarason and beyond Boevink. Dresden substitute Dominik Kother went close in the closing stages, but Fürth regained control to survive 6 minutes of injury time.
