Manchester City have finalised their preparations for their final 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stage game, as they trained at the City Football Academy on Tuesday.

Pep Guardiola’s squad are scheduled to travel to Belgrade in Serbia on Tuesday afternoon, as they close their group stage commitments with a clash against Crvena zvezda – who caused the Etihad club problems on matchday one.

It was the Serbian outfit who took the lead at the Etihad Stadium late on in the first-half back in September through a counter-attacking strike from Osman Bukari, before a flurry of second-half goals ensured there was no shock for the reigning Champions.

Julian Alvarez recorded a brace on matchday one to get Manchester City’s defence of their Champions League crown underway, with defensive midfield star and Istanbul hero Rodri also getting in on the act.

Manchester City come into the reverse clash with Crvena zvezda off the back of a 1-2 comeback victory over Luton Town in the Premier League, with that victory ending a run of four games in the division without a win.

A number of fitness concerns loom over the City squad heading into Wednesday night’s clash, with four key names absent from first-team training as they ran out in front of the open media at the City Football Academy.

Here is a complete list of players spotted at the City Football Academy on Tuesday morning!

23-man Manchester City training squad ahead of Crvena zvezda

Goalkeepers: Stefan Ortega Moreno, Scott Carson

Defenders: Kyle Walker, Josko Gvardiol, Rico Lewis, Max Alleyne, John Stones, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias, Sergio Gomez, Nathan Ake

Midfielders: Kalvin Phillips, Rodri, Mahamadou Susoho, Matheus Nunes, Bernardo Silva, Kane Taylor, Micah Hamilton, Phil Foden, Mateo Kovacic

Forwards: Oscar Bobb, Jack Grealish, Julian Alvarez

Ederson was one of the notable absentees on Tuesday morning, with the Brazilian international described as being ill for training as opposed to suffering from an injury problem.

Jeremy Doku and Erling Haaland remain sidelined through injury, although there is hope and somewhat of an expectation that both attacking players could be available for Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign in Saudi Arabia next week.

Kevin De Bruyne continues his long road to recovery, as his rehabilitation process nears it’s completion and a return to Manchester City activities has already been mooted for early January 2024.
