Liverpool suffered their second defeat of the Premier League campaign against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
The Merseyside giants had a slow start against Marco Silva’s side and were fortunate to avoid conceding an early penalty.
Alexis Mac Allister’s stellar long-range strike put them ahead in the 14th minute, but Fulham struck back soon after.
The Cottagers scored three goals in a 14-minute interval before the half-time whistle.
Luis Diaz reduced the defeat for the Reds coming off the bench, but they could not find the equaliser.
Arne Slot’s side suffered their first league loss in 27 games, and it was a day to forget on the road.
Andy Robertson was one of the worst performers and showed why he is no longer in his prime.
The Scotland international could not prevent the cross in the lead-up to Fulham’s equaliser.
He also made a comedy of errors, which contributed to Fulham’s second goal, scored by Alex Iwobi.
Robertson initially surrendered possession to Iwobi with a cross-field pass.
Seconds later, the left-back gifted possession back to Iwobi with a misplaced header.
Iwobi’s subsequent shot took a deflection off Robertson before finding the back of the net.
Robertson was better as an attacking asset after the break but did not complete any of his crosses.
The 31-year-old was guilty of losing possession on 10 occasions before his 82nd-minute substitution.
In our view, Robertson’s latest display at Craven Cottage suggests that the Reds should part ways with him.
The Scot has looked vulnerable defensively over the past year and the club need an upgrade in the left-back position.
Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez would be an ideal choice as explained by us. He could be signed for £45 million.
Robertson’s current deal expires in June next year. The Reds should accept a cut-price fee for his summer exit.
