City forward Aoba Fujino scored Japan’s second in their 4-0 triumph over South Korea on Saturday.
She featured alongside fellow City team-mates Yui Hasegawa and Ayaka Yamashita who captained her nation in the clash.
And the City trio were prevalent in the game in all areas of the pitch.
From kick-off, Yamashita provided reassurance in goal with Hasegawa pulling the strings in the centre of the pitch.
And Fujino helped carve out a handful of chances for the home nation. But it would take patience, with Japan not finding the breakthrough until the 32rd minute.
Hikaru Kitagawa’s right footed shot put her country ahead before Fujino doubled Japan’s lead two minutes later.
Her goal was extremely similar to her team-mates, a close-range finish that left South Korea frustrated.
Japan would see the South Korea net bulge again before half-time. A 37th minute strike from Mina Tanaka saw her put her nation in the driving seat.
One final goal would come in the second half. Momoko Tanikawa confirmed Japan’s win with another close-range effort on 56 minutes.
For Yamashita, the Japan captain will also be happy with another clean sheet for her nation.
