Chelsea are preparing to make a move for Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale according to former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown.
The Blues have signed a number of goalkeepers over the past few windows, but are struggling for consistency between the sticks.
Robert Sanchez started the season as number one, but after a series of mistakes he’s been replaced by Filip Jorgensen, who joined from Villarreal last summer.
Chelsea’s best goalkeeper is arguably on loan at Strasbourg in Djordje Petrovic, with Liam Rosenior hailing the 25-year-old as world class.
Reports have suggested Petrovic will return to Chelsea and compete for the number one shirt next season, whilst the Blues also have high hopes for teenager Mike Penders, who they also signed last summer.
Fans would love Chelsea to sign a new keeper, although striker, centre back and a left winger are likely to be viewed as more of a priority.

However, according to Brown Ramsdale is an option Chelsea are looking at, with the England international not keen on playing in the Championship.
“Chelsea are assessing their options in the transfer market,” he told Football Insider.
“The problem for them is, there aren’t too many top-class goalkeepers available, one of those options, I’m told, is Aaron Ramsdale.
“The Arsenal manager obviously didn’t think he was good enough to be their number one, so he went out and bought Raya to replace him.
“But from what I hear, Chelsea feel he would be an upgrade on the options they’ve already got.
“He’s a decent goalkeeper, I’m not so sure whether he’s top-class, but that’s up to them to decide.
“He doesn’t want to play in the Championship, so if and when Southampton go down, and Chelsea come calling, he’ll want to make that move.

“They’ll be able to offer him first-team football because they’ve not been happy this season.”
Whether this materialises or not remains to be seen, but it’s likely Chelsea fans would be expecting better than Ramsdale if they sign a new shot stopper this summer.
