Manchester City could be subject to a major change of personnel in the goalkeeping department this summer, with mainstay number one Ederson subject to interest.

The Brazilian international has had a transformational effect on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad since first arriving at the club from Benfica in the summer of 2017, largely being viewed as the ultimate shot-stopper for the Catalan’s desired system.

Ederson’s arrival followed a season of uncertainty in goal at Manchester City, with Joe Hart bringing an end to his illustrious time in sky blue, whilst also displacing the likes of Claudio Bravo and Willy Caballero.

However, Ederson’s last two seasons at the Etihad Stadium have seen him challenged like never before at Manchester City, following the arrival of Stefan Ortega from Arminia Bielefeld in the summer of 2022, to take up the back-up role.

Despite Ederson retaining his place as Manchester City’s number one option, and Pep Guardiola reinstating that fact on numerous occasions, injuries have seen his game time substantially reduced during the ongoing season.

And now, according to the information of the ever-reliable transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City’s mainstay goalkeeper could leave the club in the upcoming summer transfer window in the event of a ‘good proposal’.

With such a move described as being a ‘possibility’, Romano further reveals that there has already been interest in Ederson from Saudi Pro League clubs, with the 30-year-old ‘considering possibilities’ at the end of the season.

Any decision on his future will be left entirely up to the player, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Ederson stands as one of the most successful players in Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad at present, with a staggering 12 trophies to his name including six Premier League titles, added to over the weekend.

With 332 appearances to his name, Ederson has also been on the winning Manchester City side in 247 of those contests, spread across the course of his seven seasons spent at the Etihad Stadium so far.

City officials will also be attentive to the uncertainty surrounding Stefan Ortega this summer too, with the German goalkeeper’s contract expiring at the end of the 2024/25 campaign, and interest growing given his position as back-up at the Etihad.
