Spurs haven't won either of their previous away games against Frankfurt, winning only three of their last 13 visits to Germany; Eintracht have only ever lost one of eight home matches against English opposition.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

After last Thursday's first leg in North London ended all square, it is very much all to play for in Germany. Just six minutes into the first leg, Hugo Ekitiké fired Franfkurt in front, only for an impudent Pedro Porro back-heeled flick to restore parity soon after. In truth, it was Tottenham who created the better chances, Kauã Santos producing a number of impressive saves, but they could not find that all important winner, meaning 1-1 it finished. There must be a victor as they meet again at Waldstadion.

Tottenham Hotspur require the Europa League to salvage their season, given how catastrophic their Premier League campaign continues to be. On Sunday, Ange Postecoglou's side were beaten yet again, this time defeated 4-2 by Wolves at Molineux. Amazingly, that was Spurs' 17th Premier League defeat of the season, and counting, hence why they're languishing down in 15th place. In the Europa League meantime, the Liliywhites came fourth in the league phase, before overcoming AZ in the round of 16, winning 3-1 at home after a 1-0 loss in Alkmaar. This time, defeat in Frankfurt could see Postecoglou out of a job come Friday morning, so can his team keep their hopes of silverware alive?

Given Tottenham's trials and tribulations, Franfkurt must surely fancy their chances of progression. The 2022 Europa League winners finished just one point and one place below Spurs in the league phase, before hammering Ajax in the round of 16, departing the Johan Cruijff Arena 2-1 winners, before a 4-1 victory back at home. Meantime, in the Bundesliga, Dino Toppmöller's team swatted aside Heidenheim 3-0 on Sunday; Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, Robin Koch and Ekitiké all scoring. This leaves die Adler third in the Bundesliga, having not finished in the top four since 1993. Thus, Eintracht are full of confidence and, backed by a raucous home crowd, should be too strong for Spurs.

Dino Toppmöller was able to rotate his team against Heidenheim at the weekend, with Hugo Larsson and Mario Götze amongst those who will return to the lineup. First-choice goalkeeper Kevin Trapp remains sidelined due to a shin injury, but Kauã Santos proved a more than able deputy last week.

Meantime, Ansgar Knauff is also injured, so potential future USMNT player Nathaniel Brown will continue out-wide.

Hugo Ekitiké scored his 21st of the season at the weekend, having also been on target in the first leg, and he has been their main man for goals since Omar Marmoush's sale in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur Team News

Ange Postecoglou made six changes for Sunday's trip to Wolves, so will he revert back to the first leg lineup? Defenders Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro, as well as Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall, were all rested at Molineux, all expected to come straight back in.

In a major boost, Dejan Kuluševski came off the bench at the weekend, his first appearance since 26 February due to a foot injury, so could the Swede be thrown straight back into the XI? There is also a big decision to make at left-back, where Djed Spence has been in good form, but Udogie got the nod a week ago.

Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup vs Eintracht Frankfurt: (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, van de Ven, Udogie; Bentancur, Bergvall, Johnson, Maddison, Son Heung-min, Solanke.
