Head coach Thomas Frank has provided an injury update ahead of Brentford’s Premier League game against Manchester United.

The Bees return to Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off GMT) following an impressive midweek victory over Nottingham Forest.

“Everyone is safe, fit, okay,” said Frank.

“We are ready to go again on Sunday. Of course, it is a tight turnaround, but it is what it is, and we are looking forward to playing on Sunday.

“It’s all about recovery from the final whistle last night [Thursday] until basically two hours before the game on Sunday. We are ready to attack again.”

As reported on Wednesday, Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago have returned to full training. Full-back Hickey (hamstring) has been unavailable since October 2023, while striker Thiago (knee) has been restricted to four appearances since his move from Club Brugge in the summer, with the most recent of those coming against Newcastle United in December.

One player who will not feature again this term is midfielder Vitaly Janelt, who recently had surgery to address an issue in his heel.

Fábio Carvalho (shoulder) is also unlikely to feature again this campaign, while Josh Dasilva (knee) remains sidelined.

Sunday’s opponents Manchester United are 14th in the Premier League table, three places and 10 points worse off than the Bees, but Frank believes that Ruben Amorim’s side have deserved more points from their performances.

“It’s a team that is very structured; they know what they want to do offensively and defensively,” he said.

“The performances in Europe show that there is potential and actually in the Premier League they have not got what they have played to.

“There are a lot of games with high expected goals and chances, the rhythm of the games, they have deserved more.

“It’s Man United, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world. They will put a very competitive team out there on Sunday.”
