Brentford boss Thomas Frank says that Saturday’s game against Ipswich "will be very tough" but is confident that his side can overcome that test if they hit the right performance levels.

The Bees host the 17th-placed Tractor Boys at Gtech Community Stadium hoping to continue their fine home form in the Premier League this term.

Ipswich, back in the top flight after a 22-year hiatus, are winless in their opening eight games but Frank has been impressed with Kieran McKenna’s side.

“I know it’s going to be a very tough game tomorrow,” said Frank.

“We need to hit a high level and if we hit a high level then I’m convinced we can get the three points in front of our fans.

“Kieran McKenna and his staff have done a fantastic job to get back-to-back promotions.

“In every game they are competing. Maybe they just lack those final bits in games or the margins to get over the line.

“They are running hard, they are working hard and they are well-structured; it’s a good team. They have a fine structure in everything they do; offensively and defensively.

“Some of the games that impressed me the most are the away game at Brighton – the 0-0 draw - and the home games against Fulham and Aston Villa. They were very impressive.

“We have huge respect for Ipswich but it doesn’t matter if it’s Ipswich or Man United, it’s always about us."

Ipswich have enjoyed success on the counter attack, with Frank well aware of the threat they pose when turning over the ball, also highlighting a few of the attacking weapons in the visitors’ side.

He continued: "When we are higher up the pitch, that’s where we need to be very aware of how we position ourselves, but also be open to create.

"Definitely on the counter attack, we need to be very aware. They press well, they press aggressively and press high.

“Going forward, [Liam] Delap has done amazingly not only on counters but in structured play as well.

“[Omari] Hutchinson was such a threat last year. He’s doing well but the more games he plays, the more he will be a bigger threat.

“[Leif] Davis has a very good delivery and I think they have a good threat in the box. All clubs know how much set-pieces are worth and important they are. We definitely need to defend well.”
