Mary Fowler has been nominated for the 2024/25 PFA Young Player of the Year award.

The Australian is one of six players to be selected by her fellow professionals for her exploits across the Barclays Women’s Super League campaign.

Fowler enjoyed her best return since joining City in the summer of 2022, grabbing six goals and seven assists in 17 WSL matches.

The 22-year-old would surely have added to that tally had her season not been cut short by an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in April 2025 against Manchester United.

Only team-mate Lauren Hemp could better Fowler’s total of seven assists across the WSL campaign, while her six goals were bettered only by Vivianne Miedema and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw at City.

She enjoyed a particularly fruitful spell in front of goal in January and February, becoming the first player in WSL history to register two goal involvements in four successive matches.

Fowler faces competition from Chelsea trio Aggie Beever-Jones, Maika Hamano and Wieke Kaptein, Manchester United midfielder Grace Clinton and Liverpool’s Olivia Smith for the award.

The winner will be honoured on 19 August at the 52nd annual PFA Awards ceremony, which will be held in Manchester.

Everyone at City would like to wish Mary the very best in the 2024/25 PFA Young Player of the Year award voting!
