Former Liverpool defender Djimi Traoré will return to another one of his former clubs, AS Monaco, and assume the position of manager of the Principality side’s youth side, the Groupe Élite.
Traoré, who won the UEFA Champions League, before spending two years at Monaco as a player, has worked as a coach at the Right to Dream Academy since 2021, however, speaking in a roundtable interview, attended by Get French Football News, Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro revealed that the former Mali international will return to the club.
“We have a new coach for the Groupe Élite, Djimi Traoré. We are very, very happy. He is a guy with a clear vision of the game we have, he’s also a former player at the club (2009-2011). He showed a lot of ambition to come here. He has a strong experience of developing players. He is coming soon. He will be the head coach of the Groupe Élite. Damien Perrinelle will remain with the first team,” Scuro revealed in response to a question from GFFN.
