Nampalys Mendy (32) clearly does not have a future at RC Lens. Despite Les Sang et Or struggling with injury issues in the centre of the park throughout the season, he has not been utilised often by Will Still. In all competitions, he has played just five games, accumulating a mere 109 minutes of playing time.
Mendy joined on a free back in September 2023, following the expiry of his contract at Leicester City. Having featured prominently in his first season under Franck Haise, he is now more of a peripheral figure. According to Foot Mercato, he could also leave on a free transfer.
The midfielder is currently in talks with AS Saint-Étienne and Stade Rennais over a move. Foot Mercato understands that his current club, Lens, could even terminate the final six months of Mendy’s deal with Les Sang et Or, thus allowing him to join either Saint-Étienne or Rennes for free.
