Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has amicably agreed to part ways with Algerian giants USM Alger, as the club is currently undergoing a massive squad overhaul ahead of the new season.

The 27-year-old frontman joined Alger in February on a one-year deal with an option to extend by a further 12 months after he was shown the exit door by Iran Persian Gulf Pro League outfit Zob Ahan after just two months.

Bimenyimana is synonymous with short stints as he was released by Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi without even kicking the ball after suffering a season-ending injury while representing Burundi on national duty.

The Burundi international failed to impress in Algeria, scoring three goals in 17 appearances across all competitions. Interestingly, the striker netted on his USM debut, a goal that seemed to change the trajectory of his career at the time.

However, with new rules in the Algerian Ligue 1 reducing the foreign quota spots starting from next season, Bimenyimana, was among a host of players identified for sacrifice, with the striker initially reluctant to exit as he demanded full compensation for the remaining months.

Now, an impeccable source has told Foot Africa that Bimenyimana has officially terminated his contract with the 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup winners, as he was deemed surplus to requirements. He lifted the Algerian Cup with the club last season.

The ex-Chiefs cult hero has somewhat become a nomadic figure as he has already played for a staggering 11 clubs in his professional football career. Overall, Bimenyimana has scored 24 goals and provided two assists in 93 club games.

In his international career, the towering center-forward has 22 caps for the Burundi national team, since making his debut in November 2017. The well-travelled player scored five goals for his national team.
