In the seemingly never-ending saga of who will be AC Milan’s next number nine, a report in France has claimed that Serhou Guirassy is the number one target.

According to Footmercato, Milan are preparing for Olivier Giroud to leave at the end of the season and they are sorting through potential profiles that could come in to replace him, with Guirassy high up on the list.

Having made 26 starts this season for Stuttgart, the 28-year-old Guirassy has scored 28 goals while adding two assists. Obviously this kind of scoring record has not gone unnoticed, and it is not just Milan who are keen on the Guinean.

The Rossoneri have ‘made him their top summer priority’ because they believe he has the right qualities to lead the line, but Borussia Dortmund are interested too. The Champions League finalists are closely following him and could put forward their own bid.

Given that Guirassy has a €17.5m release clause in his deal with Stuttgart – which runs until June 2026 – the economic aspect of the transfer fee is not a problem for either side. What will become decisive is the salary that suitors put forward and, perhaps above all, the project that they pitch to him.
