Milan got the better of Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday night, but Paulo Fonseca wasn’t pleased about his team’s performance in the narrow win. He slammed his players in his post-game remarks (via Libero).
“The result is the most important thing, but that’s not enough to satisfy me. We won and are in a good position, but I’m tired of fighting against these things. It’s not a matter of tactics or technique. This was a decisive game for us, but we didn’t perceive that we needed to do everything possible to prevail. We are on a rollercoaster ride: one day goes well, the other I don’t know. It’s like a coin toss. It’s stupefying.”
Fonseca wanted more determination from Milan players.
“I work every day to teach the squad and to do well. I don’t know if everybody can say the same thing. We had to give our 100 percent to succeed, and we didn’t. The footballers must understand that this can’t happen. This attitude makes things harder. I didn’t like what we did collectively. Our duty isn’t to play better, but to give our whole. You can misplace a pass, but this is hard to watch.”
Fonseca didn’t name names and promised to keep going to make Milan turn things around for good.
