The season is not over yet, with Bayer Leverkusen set to take on Atalanta in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday.

Needless to say, Alonso has been a crucial factor behind Leverkusen’s tremendous campaign. His contributions have not gone unnoticed either, with Real Madrid emerging as one of the potential suitors, once he leaves Leverkusen.

Florentino Perez puts faith in Alonso

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez appears to have full faith in Xabi Alonso. He believes the Spaniard has everything it takes to become the next Real Madrid manager.

While Alonso has confirmed his commitment to Leverkusen for the upcoming season, this news bodes well for Real Madrid’s future managerial plans.

Current manager Carlo Ancelotti, despite leading the club to a Champions League final and the league title this season, is contracted only until 2026.

Should Real Madrid experience a dip in form next season, Ancelotti could face pressure to step down, potentially opening the door for Alonso in 2025.

This timeline aligns perfectly with Alonso’s potential future. Leverkusen’s impressive season under his leadership suggests he might be ready for a bigger challenge by 2025, and a return to Santiago Bernabeu, his former stomping ground, could be on the cards.

As a highly respected figure amongst the fanbase and a player who embodies the club’s winning mentality, Alonso presents an exciting prospect for the future of Los Blancos – someone who can lead the ambitious project.

Real Madrid, though, are likely to face stiff competition from other European giants, in the race to hire Xabi Alonso.

Manchester City are likely to enter the market for a new manager in 2025, while clubs like Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Chelsea could also set sights on Alonso, who, in the meantime, will look to guide Leverkusen to Europa League glory next week.
