Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a crucial summer transfer window, with manager Ange Postecoglou targeting reinforcements across all areas of the pitch.

However, the club’s financial muscle may depend on player sales, especially after missing out on Champions League football and the lucrative revenue stream that comes with Europe’s elite tournament.

Here are five players Spurs could offload this summer.

Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil has only played 201 minutes of Premier League football this season, so eyebrows were raised when he turned down a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in January.

Nevertheless, he is one of several players heading for the exit door this summer, although he’s likely to have his pick of the bunch with several European clubs interested.

Gil has two years left on his contract with Spurs, so the club could hold out for a decent sum before cutting him loose, although it is unclear if they’ll be open to a loan departure.

Sergio Reguilon

Sergio Reguilon has been on the fringes at Spurs over the past couple of years, and he is not part of Postecoglou’s plans for the future.

After a decent loan spell at Manchester United, the Spaniard enjoyed a successful temporary stint at Brentford during the second half of the season.

He found some semblance of stability at the Gtech Community Stadium, returning four assists in 15 Premier League games, so there should be interest in him this summer.

Reguilon has a year left on his contract with Spurs, but the club will feel fairly confident of recouping a significant fee for the former Real Madrid defender.

Joe Rodon

Joe Rodon may have failed to establish himself at Spurs, but his remarkable loan spell at Leeds United should spark plenty of interest in his signature this summer.

The Wales international helped to keep 17 clean sheets in 43 Championship outings, winning 69% of his ground duels and 67% of his aerial battles.

Rodon will be key to Daniel Farke’s side as they eye a swift return to the Premier League through the play-offs.

Leeds are expected to be at the forefront of the race for the 26-year-old after a standout campaign that should see Spurs recoup at least their initial investment in the defender.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham last summer, but an exit never materialised.

However, Spurs will be forced to cash in on the Danish midfielder when the transfer window opens as he heads into the final 12 months of his contract.

Hojbjerg has started just eight of his 25 appearances this season, so his search for regular first-team football should continue with plenty of European clubs interested.

Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani Lo Celso also has just one year left on his contract and is poised to leave Spurs this summer after five years on the club’s payroll.

The Argentine has started in just four of his 22 Premier League appearances this season.

He has scored some crucial goals for Spurs, netting in back-to-back games against Aston Villa and Manchester City, but his lack of playing time paves the way for a summer exit.

Lo Celso isn’t short on potential suitors, with the likes of Barcelona and former club Real Betis still interested.

A decent Copa America campaign could also spike his value, handing Spurs some of the funds they invested to sign him from Betis in 2019.
