A short detour to the gym was also on the agenda at the start of training on Saturday morning, before the team were put to their paces out on the pitch in temperatures of almost 30 degrees, with high humidity. The session was a tough one: an intensive running programme, followed by various forms of skill games with a focus on tactical awareness.. As usual, head coach Niko Kovac loudly set the tone and demanded a lot from his players.
After 90 minutes of sweat-inducing toil under the Fort Lauderdale sun, the subsequent trip to the ice bath was more than deserved – regeneration that will help the players prepare as best as possible for the first group match next Tuesday (17 June) against Fluminense in New Jersey (12:00/18:00 CEST).
