Fiorentina right-back Dodo has earned his first ever call-up to the Brazil national team for his nation’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay next week.
The Viola full-back has been called in as a last-minute replacement for Monaco defender Vanderson, who is suspended for the Uruguay clash after his booking during the 1-1 draw with Venezuela on Thursday night.
The Selecao have confirmed that Dodo will train in Salvador, Brazil, on Friday, ahead of the game, which is taking place at 00.30 GMT on Wednesday morning, Tuesday night local time.
Despite missing most of 2023-24 through injury, the 25-year-old has been a mainstay for Fiorentina in Serie A this term, playing every single minute of his team’s 12 league fixtures so far this campaign.
Fiorentina currently sit in third place in Serie A, just one point off the league leaders, Napoli.
Dodo is expected to be back in time from his Brazil trip to be included in the Fiorentina squad to face Como immediately after the international break on November 24.
