The Premier League is currently blessed with some of the finest creators on the planet, and a brand new end-of-season award was introduced to celebrate the creative genius of the league's very best.

The Playmaker of the Season award is a novel concept first established ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign. The award is given out to the player that ends the league season with the most assists.

Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne was a two-time winner heading into the 2022/23 season, and the arrival of a certain Norwegian menace meant it was always going to be tough to usurp the Belgian's assist tally.

1. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City)

Appearances: 32Assists: 16Was this ever in doubt? The all-time Premier League great has picked up his third Playmaker of the Season crown - and first since 2019/20 - after registering an impressive 16 assists. The arrival of Erling Haaland rendered this crowning inevitable.

2. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)

Appearances: 38Assists: 12The Egyptian superstar was one of very few to register double-digit goals and assists in 2022/23. The 2021/22 Playmaker of the Season, however, never really came close to competing with De Bruyne for this season's crown.

3. Leandro Trossard (Brighton & Arsenal)

Appearances: 36Assists: 12While his form tailed off towards the end of the season, there was a point when Arsenal's acquisition of Brighton's Trossard looked to be a masterstroke. Eight of his assists came in red and white, including the three he registered at Fulham in March.

Appearances: 37Assists: 11Eberechi Eze has garnered plenty of plaudits for his stellar form since Roy Hodgson's arrival, but Olise has been similarly impressive and put together a productive campaign down Palace's right flank. The Frenchman dazzled in the 5-1 thumping of Leeds in April and notched three assists.

5. Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

Appearances: 38Assists: 11Arsenal's starboy penned a contract extension at the club that keeps him on their books until 2027 off the back of his stellar 2022/23 season. Saka played a major part in the Gunners' title challenge, but his form fell off a cliff after the March international break.

6. Riyad Mahrez (Manchester City)

Appearances: 30Assists: 10While Pep Guardiola has often turned to Bernardo Silva in the big moments, Mahrez had enjoyed yet another fine season in sky blue. The Algerian registered his fourth double-digit assist haul of his Premier League career.

7. Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

Appearances: 37Assists: 9The reinvention of Trent sparked a Liverpool resurgence at the end of the campaign, with the unicorn full-back registering assists in five straight games in April.

8. James Maddison (Leicester)

Appearances: 30Assists: 9A rare shining light for Leicester this season. Maddison didn't do enough to keep the Foxes up, however, and a new challenge awaits the England international this summer.

Appearances: 37Assists: 8It wasn't the most productive of seasons for Bruno but he still managed 16 direct goal involvements, contributing eight goals and assists respectively.

10. Ivan Perisic (Tottenham)

Appearances: 35Assists: 8There's no doubt that the Croatian veteran has underwhelmed since joining Tottenham, but boy, can he take a set-piece. The vast majority of his eight league assists arrived from such situations.

11. Andy Robertson (Liverpool)

Appearances: 35Assists: 8The Scottish full-back didn't trouble the scorers in 2022/23, but he once again proved a distinct threat in the final third as he notched eight Premier League assists.
