FIFA's firmly rejected suggestions from major clubs like Real Madrid and other European & South American giants to host the Club World cup every two years citing scheduling issues and financial impracticality.
According to ESPN, several club officials discussed the proposal informally with FIFA representatives during the recent expanded Club World cup held in the United States.
While no official requests have been submitted, top clubs believe biennial format could boost revenues significantly.
Despite being pleased with the success of the new 32 team format, FIFA considers biennial Club World cup unfeasible at this stage. The next edition's set for 2029 with Qatar emerging as strong candidate to host.
