Former Celtic attacker Scott Sinclair has been released by Bristol Rovers. The 36-year-old had captained the EFL League One side over the last campaign but was unable to prevent their relegation to the bottom flight.
The ex-Man City and Swansea winger played some of his best football with Celtic and is fondly remembered for his time during Brendan’s first campaign with the Champions.
It appears that Sinclair will be on the free agents list this summer as he looks to get himself a new club.
In an update on Wednesday afternoon, Rovers confirmed the news with Director Of Football Ricky Martin saying: “On behalf of Bristol Rovers I would like to express my gratitude to each of the players and staff who are moving on from the Club this summer. Each goes with our collective best wishes for the future.
“The hard work is already underway in terms of our preparations for the 2025/26 season, including a comprehensive recruitment process for both our coaching department and first-team squad.
“While we are all experiencing the pain of our confirmed relegation, we are channelling that energy into ensuring our team and Club is in the best possible position ahead of our first League Two fixture in August.”

After being signed by Rodgers in August 2016, Sinclair became an integral part of the Celtic sides that won the Treble Treble.
On his debut at Tynecastle, Sinclair came off the bench and within a two touches of the ball, he had scored after converting from a brilliant Leigh Griffiths cross. He started as he meant to go on, enjoying a stunning debut season at the club in which he swept up the individual awards as Celtic romped to win all three trophies in an Invincible campaign. In 167 appearances, Sinclair scored 62 times and assisted on 34 occasions before leaving for Preston North End in January 2020.
Hopefully Scotty finds a new club soon. I wonder if newly promoted Wrexham would fancy a player of his pedigree, even if he is towards the end of his career?
