Fabrizio Romano: Manager candidate ‘keen’ and waiting on Chelsea’s final decision

One of the final manager candidates to take the role as new Chelsea head coach is reportedly keen on taking the position and is now just waiting on the club’s final decision.

We hopefully wont have to wait much longer now to know the new Chelsea manager, but I’m not sure that the new manager is going to be greeted too well by the Chelsea faithful.

Sources: Chelsea target TWO Crystal Palace players for a move THIS summer!

There has been some truly underwhelming names linked as it looks like Chelsea want to go down the route of a young and unproven manager who has experience managing in English football. Although none of the names can really be classed as being very experienced, other than maybe Thomas Frank.

But one of the leading candidates left and the one who looks most likely now, Enzo Maresca of Leicester City, has very little managerial experience at all.

What is the latest on him?

Fabrizio Romano had it late last night, and he says that Maresca remains keen on Chelsea job. He’s given his availability after positive contacts over the weekend. And now he is still just waiting for club’s final decision.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna and Ruben Amorim have now been ruled out by Romano as well, as seen here.

And there has been no mentioned by Romano on Roberto De Zerbi, who was heavily linked across a few other outlets yesterday and within the last 48 hours.

So with all the other candidates slowly wittering away, it is looking more likely that it may well now end up being Maresca who gets the role as new Chelsea head coach.

However, there is no way you can rule out another name getting it, whether that is a previously linked name or a brand new name that comes from nowhere. It’s clear Chelsea have been trying to do things as quiet as possible.
