Crystal Palace Turn to Conor Gallagher After Eberechi Eze Exit

Crystal Palace face a crucial week in the transfer market after losing one of their most influential players. Eberechi Eze’s £60m move to Arsenal has left a creative void at Selhurst Park, and manager Oliver Glasner admits that replacing the England international is essential if the club is to compete across all competitions.

Speaking after the weekend draw with Nottingham Forest, Glasner underlined the importance of finding the right profile. “I won’t talk about the players we need; it makes it more expensive. We want to be competitive in the Premier League, European football and cup competitions — and when you lose one of your top stars, it is pretty clear you have to replace him. That is what we are looking for and I’m pretty sure we will get it done because we have already found the right one.”

Search for Creativity in Midfield

Glasner was candid about what Eze brought to the side and what they now lack. “Ismaila [Sarr] had a fantastic season for us and the way he is playing helps us a lot. His directness and runs are his strengths. But if I ask him to always dribble in midfield and drop in, maybe he loses his strengths. This is what Eberechi gave us. Sometimes you need someone who can dribble past everyone and score a great goal. This is what Ebs gave us.”

The Austrian hinted that the replacement may not be a like-for-like signing. “Maybe we will find a player who is a little bit better where Ebs has his weaknesses and maybe therefore not that good where he has his big strengths but showing that kind of profile. This player we have to find. We already found a few of them, and it’s now just getting them to South London.”

Fabrizio Romano Reveals Gallagher Talks

According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace have approached Atletico Madrid about the availability of Conor Gallagher. “Crystal Palace have approached Atlético Madrid over potential return for Conor Gallagher. Concrete interest for loan move but nothing agreed at this stage, initial talks took place. One to watch based on Atlético decision – follows @BobbyManzi info.”

Gallagher, who shone at Palace during a previous loan spell from Chelsea, made a strong start at Atletico but has found competition intense following the big-money signing of Alex Baena from Villarreal. With England’s World Cup squad in his sights, Gallagher is keen for regular football, making a Premier League return appealing.

Why Gallagher Fits Glasner’s Vision

Gallagher offers versatility, capable of operating both in attacking and deeper midfield roles. His energy and tactical discipline would complement Glasner’s style while adding leadership and familiarity to a dressing room in transition. Former England striker Gary Lineker once said: “Conor Gallagher continues to put in a good shift for them. His numbers are really good as well actually, if you look at them.”

With the transfer window closing in a matter of days, Palace must act quickly to secure the creativity and drive needed to offset the loss of Eze. Whether Gallagher becomes that solution could define Palace’s ambitions this season.
