“Excuse FC” – too many Rangers fans defend fourth best | OneFootball

It’s safe to say Rangers fans are a little split – between Clement, stay or go.

Ibrox Noise is very much go, as are 70%+ of the rest of the fanbase, according to a recent poll we did, but the 30% are adamant about give him time, sack the board, blame the players.

There’s also a new argument surfacing – the ones who previously wanted him judged on his own signings are now demanding those signings be given time and can’t be judged.

People who makes excuses, like Clement himself, will always do so – they will always shift the goalposts to justify being second.

But then there’s a problem with this:

How come Aberdeen, with a brand new manager in Jimmy Thelin and 6 new signings, don’t also need this time?

How come they’re joint top of the table with 4 wins out of 4, having taken zero time to bed in?

Why is it only (some) Rangers fans who continue to justify rubbish in this while Aberdeen (and Dundee Utd) sit above us in the table in the same circumstances?

Bear in mind, Rangers beat the miserable Ross County and Motherwell, and could only draw with the miserable Hearts. Celtic took us apart. Aberdeen have beaten Killie and St Mirren, all of who were top 6 teams last season and also beaten miserable County. Ditto St Johnstone. They have conceded two goals.

Ok next it’s ‘we’re skint’, and ‘we have no money’. Well Aberdeen broke all their purse strings this summer and spent close to £1.5M, which is still not even half of Rangers’ minimum summer outlay of £3.5M, which could be closer to £11M including Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron.

It’s feeble for us in contention with Celtic, yes, but v the rest of the SPL it’s a king’s ransom.

And yet with that money, and a manager who’s to be given time (despite getting 10 months of it already) we sit fourth behind the Dons and Utd?

It’s becoming Excuse FC these days with some Rangers fans – so desperate to be ‘better’ fans and borderline sycophantic supporters that they will justify and defend absolutely anything, and are probably fingers in the ears raging with this article, spitting hate at us and calling us tims.

The next bad result for these guys and the rage at the board increases, the rage at the players increases, despite the fact this is now Clement’s team for the majority – he will remain untouchable for these folks.

These players, now, are Clement’s, and the ones saying ‘judge him on his own team ffs’ are now spinning the ‘give the players time to bed in ffs’ despite the fact Aberdeen’s have had no problem doing the same thing.

AND that only Jefte, Propper, Cerny and Barron have actually featured this season of his new signings – unless you count Balogun and Diomande.

Yes, this is Clement’s team. He stands by Tavernier, he’s his player now. Butland has become his player too, given what he said about him. Souttar is his now. Balogun definitely is, with his new contract.

This is Clement’s team, and it’s fourth place.

But let’s just use every excuse about money, time, and everything else to justify why Aberdeen are currently better than us.
