Red Dragons outcast Ollie Palmer is wanted by a whole host of clubs ahead of next week's transfer deadline

Wrexham AFC striker Ollie Palmer is the subject of a raft of EFL transfer interest ahead of next week's deadline - including from crisis Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday, sources have exclusively informed Football League World.

The Red Dragons have bolstered their strike-force considerably since their promotion from League One, with Kieffer Moore, Josh Windass, Ryan Hardie and Nathan Broadhead all arriving at the STōK Cae Ras this summer.

That foursome have joined January addition Sam Smith as Phil Parkinson's chosen five, and it has meant a sea of departures from the North Wales outfit's previous attacking unit, with Mo Faal, Jack Marriott and fan favourite Paul Mullin joining League One trio Port Vale, Reading and Wigan Athletic respectively.

One player who remains though is Palmer, who certainly made an impact in the first round of the EFL Cup earlier in August, coming off the bench to score two stoppage time goals against Hull City to secure a 3-3 draw in normal time - Wrexham went on to win on penalties to put themselves in the hat for the next round.

That looks to be potentially Palmer's final contribution in a Wrexham shirt though, as five clubs are keen on the towering target man, who is seemingly free to leave the club.

FLW has been told that one of the clubs keen on taking Palmer off Wrexham's hands is Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently still under the scrutiny of the EFL when it comes to recruiting new faces.

Their transfer embargo was lifted earlier in August, yet they are still unable to register any new signings until the governing bodies are satisfied that maligned owner Dejphon Chansiri has the funds to pay player wages for the foreseeable future.

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Henrik Pedersen is eager to add to his threadbare Owls squad, and Palmer is a target for the top end of the pitch, but as of now, they would not be able to register him if they were able to secure a deal, although with no fees allowed to be paid until 2027, they'd have to rely on Palmer's contract being terminated, or securing him on loan.

Wednesday are joined in the Palmer chase by Bristol Rovers, who have started the 2025-26 League Two season in poor fashion, sitting in 20th position after five matches played, with just one win to their name, with Palmer potentially providing some more power at the top end of the pitch for Darrell Clarke.

Crawley Town, Cambridge United & Salford City all keen on Ollie Palmer

Bristol Rovers are not the only fourth tier club that are interested in securing 33-year-old Palmer, with FLW exclusively revealing that former club Crawley Town are another interested party.

Palmer plied his trade for the Red Devils between 2018 and 2020, scoring 30 goals in 76 matches before he moved on to AFC Wimbledon at the end of his contract - Scott Lindsey is now eyeing up a move to bring the 6ft 5in Epsom-born striker back to the Broadfield Stadium.

Two of Crawley's divisional rivals - Salford City and Cambridge United - are both in the mix for Palmer's services though, in what is set to be a bit of a scramble before the transfer window slams shut next Monday.
